How do I Set SEO and Metadata?

← Return Read on ↓

To set SEO and metadata, select Options on the page you are working on. You will be interacting with three tabs: SEO, Social, and Settings.

SEO

There are three fields you should update in the SEO tab:

  • Meta Title: This should reflect the meta title specified in the script. If no meta title has been supplied, it should typically follow this format: Name of Page | Website Section | Name of School, Location of School
  • Do You Want to Replace the Head Element Title with the Meta Title?: Tick this box as it will place the content you have added for meta-title into the title tag of the page's HTML also, and is a good SEO win
  • Meta Description: This should be a concise description of the page content; if you’re stuck for ideas, simply pasting the page’s first sentence often works well here, but including your brand identity, important keyphrase, and location in the meta-description is also helpful for SEO

After you are done, Save your changes to return to the page.

Settings

There are two fields you need to interact with in the Settings tab:

  • Page Image: This is the preview image for the page when shared internally around your website, and this will typically be the same as the header image and should use the Page Image rendition (800x800) - click the pen icon to open the Asset Manager to select the Page Image to use
  • Description: If required (not all sites will need this, speak to your Experience Director if in doubt), this will usually be the same as the meta description

After you are done, Save your changes to return to the page.

 Social

There are three fields you need to interact with in the Social tab:

  • OG Meta Title: This can be the same as the SEO meta title
  • OG Meta Description: This can be the same as the SEO meta description
  • OG Image: This is the preview image shown when the page link is shared on many social networks, and will typically be the same as the header image and should use the OG Image rendition (1200x600) - click the pen icon to open the Asset Manager to select the OG Image to use

After you are done, Save your changes to return to the page.
