The Display Feature is a very handy way of sharing content around your website. It is commonly used for news feeds and related pages quick link feeds, but it can be used to share collections of images or even other Features!
Fundamentally, the Display Feature is a simple tool to use - it simply shows whatever Collection you tell it to. You create Collections by adding tags to content in the website (for example, you might add the tag News to all of your news posts/blogs, and you could then create a Collection of Posts tagged News, and instruct a Display Feature to show that Collection to create a News Feed).
To create a Display feature in Amais:
- Select Options > Edit Page if you are not in Edit mode already.
- Scroll to the bottom of the content zone you wish to add the feature to, and select the yellow + icon.
- In the Create a New Feature menu, enter your Feature Name, then select Display from the Feature Type section.
- Select Save. The dialog box will close and return you to the page, where a new Gallery feature will appear.
- If your site is using the column structure, go into the Display Feature's settings and add the correct width custom CSS command (site-col-12 or site-col-6 etc)
Add a Collection to the Display Feature
Once you have created a Display Feature, you will need to set the collection it should show.
- Click the pen icon on the Display Feature's pop-up title box to enter the Feature's editor
- Click the Collections Manager button
- In the pop-up window that appears, you can select a pre-existing collection to show in the Display Feature - scroll until you see the correct collection, click its radio button to select it, and then click the Update button
- This will return you to the Display Feature editor, click the Save button to set the selected collection into the Display Feature
- If the collection you wish to share does not yet exist, you can create it in the Collections Manager - press the + Collection button to open the Create Collection wizard
- Give the new Collection a name and then type in the tag that the Collection should gather together, and then choose the type of collection (Page, Post, Rendition, etc)
- Once you have created the new Collection, select it by clicking its radio button and then click the Update Button to return to the Display Feature editor
- Press the Save button to set the new Collection into the Display Feature - you should now see a preview of the items in the Collection
- You should visit the Display Feature's Settings tab to adjust any view options as required (for example, whether to show a preview image or not, whether to show item description, how many items to show in a row (use the Item Width option to control this), etc)
